A. Composition of the Authority
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (i) and (3) of Section 4 of the Coastal Aquaculture Authority Act, 2005, the Central Government established the Coastal Aquaculture Authority vide Notification No. S.O. 1803 (E) dated 22 December 2005. The head office of the Coastal Aquaculture Authority is located at Chennai, Tamil Nadu . The Coastal Aquaculture Authority consists of the following members, who are appointed by the Central Government for a term of three years:

| (ii) | An expert in the field of Coastal Aquaculture. | Member |
| (iii) | An expert in the field of coastal ecology and nominated by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (former Department of Ocean Development.) | Member |
| (iv) | An expert in the field of environment protection and nominated by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. | Member |
| (v) | A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Central Government. | Member |
| (vi) | A representative of the Ministry of Commerce of the Central Government. | Member |
| (vii) | Fours members to represent the coastal States on rotation basis. | Member |
| (viii) | One member to be appointed by the Central Government. | Member Secretary |
B. Constitution of the Authority
The Central Government reconstituted the Coastal Aquaculture Authority on 26 June 2012 [vide Notification No S.O. 1438 (E)] with the following members:

C. Staff structure of the Authority
The Ministry of Agriculture in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, Government of India had created 21 posts for the for the former Aquaculture Authority and the same have been allowed to continue with the Coastal Aquaculture Authority until further orders under the same terms and conditions.
